website.)
A native Californian, Stan moved to Kaua'i, Hawai'i in 1976,
and has lived on all the major Hawaiian Islands over the last
28 years.
Stan is a self taught artist and began his career in art in Santa
Barbara, California by illustrating a book of human anatomy at
age eight. Working in traditional mediums up through junior high
school, and favoring watercolor for speed of execution by the
time he was half way through high school, he gave up his pens
and brushes in favor of crafting images with light and shadow,
and recording them on film.
Early on in his artistic genesis when drawing or painting, Stan
would use wildly abstract coloring and shading to evoke emotion
through his images. Having completed the New York Institute of
Photography curriculum in 1982, and mastering the application
of his early knowledge and creativity in the arts to his now prefered
medium, photography, it seems his genesis has come full circle.
A most commonly heard comment when viewing Stan's Masterpiece
Canvas portraits is, "Who Painted these?"
Primarily working as a Portrait Artist and Commercial Photographer
all over Hawaii, Stan has also been collecting images of the 'Aina',
and Cloudscapes, from Kaua'i to the Big Island of Hawai'i. It
is impossible to travel the Hawaiian Islands as extensively as
Stan has and not be awestruck by the beauty of Hawaii.
Stan proclaims, "The landscapes here have magic you can
feel! And the cloudscapes have a quality unlike anywhere else
on earth! I absolutely love photography, and while people are
my favorite subjects, I love the Aina, (Islands), and the Hawaiian
sky. The images I capture are ones that speak to me. I think they
'speak' to everyone who sees them. And everyone should be given
the vhance to hear their message."
